Hotpoint Dishwasher faut

Hi
Are there any techies out there who may explain why my start/pause button on my hotpoint dishwasher is dimming in and out (green light) .Appears to have packed in mid cycle and simply will not start although all lights come on when dishwasher switched to on.Great timing for the thing to give up the ghost.If I can't do a fix myself I guess it will be cheaper to replace these days than call out for repair
