a poker player is, by definition, a gambler

what you propose is a gamble, not some great intellectual endeavour between consensual adults.

    An upgrade?
The process of buying and selling a HOME (note I don't say 'house') cannot be compared to a Maccy D's!

Keep an eye on the listings, it may well fall through. Let the agent know to contact you if it does. But don't try and outbid at this stage because you know who else really likes the house? The person who's offer was accepted and is engaging a solicitor, starting proceedings and imagining themselves living there.

Yet all long term successful poker players are well above average IQ.

A gamble is a negative expected value bet.

We will have to agree to disgaree, this kinda debates go on forever. Do i think people should waste large periods of time playing poker? no i dont its unhealthy, much better things to do in life. But yeah at high level it is exactly a great intellectual endeavour between consensual adults, ask around.

So the process seems tricky then and its why we have many grey areas i guess because peoples views differ a little just in this topic.

just the same as you can proposition anyone anywhere anytime you won't know if you will get a slap across the face or a kiss in return until you try.
This sounds like personal experience. Any anecdotes to share?!

It would be nice to see some type of decentralized system where all bids are open and housing just sells to highest bidder and estate agents aren't needed so buyer and seller cut out the middle man.

The property has been sold to the highest (proceedable) bidder though. The formal legalities take time that's all.

    Maybe yeah :)

Still think we need an upgrade though, we defo need less middlemen taking fees from the transaction. Im hoping a site like purplebricks can solves this and iron out any creases in their businesss model in the coming years.

Why are "feelings" coming into this so much? As a seller, if someone had made an offer that I accepted, and 2 days later I had someone else offer £10k more I'd go with that, assuming I had weighed up the risk, their seriousness and proceedability. The last thing a seller would want to do is reject a previously accepted offer, then go crawling back to them a month later saying sorry, do you still want to buy it?

If the house is in demand it could always go back on the market.

Ultimately, I think what would swing it is if the second offer is significantly higher, enough to tempt them to take a risk.

    Hi,

1.) i like a house sold STC, can i knock on the door and make a better offer? or send a letter? dont feel great about doing it but... thoughts?

    If not

2.) In general i want to pick out a few houses i like and ask the home owners if they want to sell it. How should i do that ? via letter or knock on the door? Or should i not do this at all.

    Many thanks

If everyone did number 1 on a house sold STC then the housing market would be an even more stressful and expensive process than it already is!

    Find another house.

Point number 2, no harm in knocking or writing a letter.
