I am thinking of leaving Sky but keeping the Sky box for "freesat".

I know that I will then be unable to record anything on the Sky box but if I had a TV that had Freeview play and recording to USB, such as a SONY BRAVIA KDL49WE663 49" Smart HDR LED TV will the Sony TV allow recording from Freeview if the TV is set to the HDMI input while I watch something on Freesat?

I ask because my present TV, also a Sony Bravia but 7 years old, does not even keep a teletext page if I switch between Freeview and HDMI.

will the Sony TV allow recording from Freeview if the TV is set to the HDMI input while I watch something on Freesat?

I think it will, select your programme in menu and press record, then watch another channel, I would do a quick test run if it`s something you want,
Do I need it or just want it.

Can I watch one channel and record another at the same time as I may even get rid of the Sky box.

I do have an aerial for Freeview.

Put a usb into my bog standard tesco technica bedroom t.v., set to record one channel turned it to another, and then turned it off checked after 30 mins or so , all recorded fine, so should work on your SONY BRAVIA KDL49WE663 49" Smart HDR LED TV
