relationship and benefits

i currently work part time and claim working tax, child tax and housing benefit. I'm in a new relationship. Boyfriend lives with his dad who has a disability so he claims carers allowances. Will our new relationship affect any of our benefits? He is unable to work because his dad needs him. I can't work more hours because of childcare, he is not my son's dad so i can't expect him to look after him too. We see each other for a few hours a week, never stay over at each others due to lack of room at their bungalow (he sleeps in a box room) and he can't stay at mine because of his dad's disability. We don't give each other money or have belongings at each others homes. I have read that you don't need to live together to have a joint claim. How would it work as i claim in work benefits and he is his dad's carer?
