Boiler cover claim

I recently made a claim on the boiler cover that I have through my house insurance. I didn’t need to make any excess payment.
My house insurance is up for renewal in the new year. When asked if I have made a claim in the last x years, do I need to include this recent call out for the boiler?

The reason I ask this is because a friend of mine almost had their house insurance cancelled because they did not report a claim for key cover when they renewed their insurance with another company. (Turned out they didn’t make a claim for key cover, just enquiried whether a broken lock was included in cover, which is wasn’t)0

Never contact an insurer over a loss/claim unless you are certain you intend to make a claim.,clairecymru wrote: »The reason I ask this is because a friend of mine almost had their house insurance cancelled because they did not report a claim for key cover when they renewed their insurance with another company. Insurers do record all reported losses irrespective of whether or not they result in a claim. The loss is also shared with other insurers via a shared database
Whenever you apply for quotes you are usually asked about claims AND/OR losses in your history
Failure to disclose does give insurers the opportunity to cancel/void the insurance when this comes to light - sometimes insurers only check you out at the time of a subsequent claim!0
