Standard of motorway driving

I do a lot of driving. I would say the roads are busier, standards are about the same, and average speed (even when not busy) is definitely slower than years ago. I put that down to fuel costs.
My real bugbear is on those long slip road approaches where there are 2 lanes that merge in separated by solid lines with chevrons, I am way too often seeing people on the main motorway cutting across INTO the slip road then again into the inside slip road just to save what must be 1 or 2 minutes of slow moving traffic. Crazy impatient driving. I must get a dashcam or better some sort of missile launcher installed.0 -
I think they don't pull into the inside lane because the second lane is so full with others who fail to move over they can't get out again if they catch up with a slow moving vehicle.
It's Catch 22 and not something that is likely to change.0 -
I’ve never got the big issue with people driving in the middle lane. If they’re driving slower than you there’s a whole other lane on the right you can pull into and overtake!0

Daughter started at uni last September so I'm regularly doing the journey from Birmingham at least every month.
I've noticed many drivers indicate and then immediately pull out, regardless of whether the lane is clear. I had two very near misses on my last journey. Since when has this been acceptable?0
