  • Your energy supplier is responsible for any corrections necessary.

I see you say they are unable to resolve this issue. Well that is not good enough. Follow their complaint procedure if necessary.

If you both have the same supplier then they can ask their mop to swap the meters between the moans easy.

Even if with different suppliers your supplier should be able to ask their mop to have the right meter attached to your moans.

You only need to contract your supplier. However best do it on the web and avoid the monkeys in the call centre who won't know how to get hard stuff done and will probably therefore not even log it!

FU might be "absolute monkeys " but why have you allowed the crossed meter to continue for x number of days and its only come to light when one of you wants to switch supplier.Presumably one of the two crossed meter customers has been very happy with the billing procedure. The other will be very unhappy when a final bill with the last reading gets issued
Did you not spot the serial number on your bill not matching your own meter ?
These crossed meters usually take place with new builds where a half asleep builder in a hard hat and a hangover messed up on the simple job of matching meter to house/flat and sending the batch off to the central data base. There always seems to be a couple of these somewhere in a new build estate
Absolutely nothing to do with suppliers when this happens. Its the builders and in some respects one of the occupiers who are at fault so go easy on F.U. please. One of the occupiers would have been very happy at such low bills being issued. The other will be livid when a proper bill is issued. There may be a case for the back billing rule to apply in these cases and the excess bills to be lowered because meter readers may not have checked serial numbers when inputting readings.
The Energy Ombudsman is the place to get a ruling on crossed meters if supplier does nt resolve it within 8 weeks, get the number from the supplier.
