Insurer requesting cooperation with court case

Hi
I was involved in a no-fault accident last year, my car was written off, and I received a payout from the insurer. Since then, my policy expired and I'm no longer with that insurer.
Now, more than a year later, they are saying the 3rd party insurer didn't pay them, and they're asking me to cooperate with court proceedings.
I haven't yet called them back to discuss it, and I have no particular objection to helping them, but before I agree to anything I'm wondering what my rights and obligations are here. Do I have to help them, or it is voluntary? And how much do I have to do to help them?

Your policy will require you to cooperate with their attempts to pursue the third party.0

It could be that the terms you agreed to when you took out the policy mean that if the insurer is unable to recover costs because you fail to co-operate then they can claw them back from what they paid you. I don't really see why you would consider not co-operating unless the cost to you is so great that you'd rather pay back some or all of the money.0

OK thanks for the advice. I wasn't really intending to not cooperate, I just wondered what the legal standing was, given that I no longer have any dealing with this insurer.0

But at the time you were under contract with them and had dealings with them.0
