Dropbox uploading some files twice?

Never used to have a problem uploading to Dropbox from my iPhone but for a good number of months now (i keep forgetting to ask about this) i'll upload the photos i want to upload, the progress bar will finish & everything will be done. I'll carry on with my day, all apps get closed at night. Anyway the bottom line is that when i next come to open up Dropbox it'll often/always (haven't paid that much attention yet but it's certainly often if not always) upload what i guess was the last file to be uploaded (again) - so there's 2 copies.

Why is this and how do you stop it?

Sure i can delete the copy but can't it just upload a file once & be done with?

Has it actually been uploaded twice (i.e. does your phone show twice as much data traffic as expected) or is it that for some reason Dropbox is duplicating the file? If it's the former then might it be a wifi/network issue that's causing the phone to think it didn't complete the upload the first time?
  • Yes it does get uploaded twice. Let's say i have a photo called i don't know ..... dog.jpg

It'll get uploaded & then when i log in to Dropbox there'll be that file plus next to it will sit dog.jpg(1) and i'll have to delete that file.

If i upload say 10 photos then it isn't all 10 that get duplicated, only 1 which i've always assumed was the last one.

There is an option in iphone to automatically upload photos.
If this is ticked, and then you manually upload the photo then it would appear twice ..

Could this be the case here ?

I'd doubt it because i don't like to auto-send photos to dropbox. My dropbox would be rammed with photos that way :) I only select what i need to upload online like forums, ebay etc so it's a manual select.
  • Could it be (just guessing here since I don't have an iPhone) because the last photo is still open in the photos app(or another app), which may change the modified time/date when closing.

I don't know tbh. I don't think so as i close the apps down, plus i always make sure the progress bar finishes what it's doing so that i know they're fully uploaded
