I hardly recognised it as a bank, no row of tellers
When did a British bank ever have a row of "tellers"?

Must be a 'South of the Border' peculiarity as pre-LBG BOS ATMs were branded 'Autoteller'

    1) RBS branch not closing
    2) 15 min walk
    3) N/A

Significant impact. I often pay in cheques or cash and the Post Office service is too slow and restrictive (on the cash amount).

25mins to nearest alternative. But that is in town and I'd need to find a parking space and pay to park. Existing branch is somewhat rural and parking is not a problem. No practical bus route.

See comments above about Post Office. I hear cheque deposit by app is coming (and I'd use that), but cash deposits will still be a challenge.

    ditto to the above.

Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

  • The RBS closures don't personally directly impact on me because I am a Clydesdale customer. However, this is part of an on-going drive to force customers to switch to online banking. The closure of my own bank's branches in two neighbouring towns now means a 32 mile round trip if I wish to visit a branch. The RBS situation is even more ridiculous given that this bank was bailed out by the taxpayer and is now mostly taxpayer owned. Many people do not want internet banking and given that pensions, benefits etc are now credited by bank transfer hastening the closure of many post offices it is ludicrous that banking services are now being withdrawn from communities, often impacting most on those who only have one bank in their community. This is just another attack on disabled, elderly and those who do not have the luxury of private transport or secure, reasonable speed broadband.

Or maybe it's because so few customers walk into branches because they love their online banking so much.

Then I'm intrigued as to why you often need to pay in cash and cheques? That's not something most non-business customers would need to do, and is one of the reasons why banks are able to justify branch closures.

    I regularly pay in cheques.

That's not answering the question though, which is why are you getting so many cheques?
  • Right now, I travel to Alloa and queue for 40 minutes to put money into my bank. In the queue with me, are a steady 18-20 people. "Lack of face to face customers," my backside!

Once Alloa closes in June, I'll have to drive into Stirling and queue for another 40 minutes with all the good peeps of Stirling and surrounding areas.

I heard that it was Philip Hammond that told RBS to close branches (more profit anyone?). Of course, Mr Hammond never has to queue for anything does he..?

Once we're independent, I hope whoever is in government in Holyrood demands RBS opens as many damn branches as we want - or they can get in the sea!!

Has he told all the other banks to do exactly the same too? Because they are doing.

I don't think the EU competition people Nicola loves so much would approve it.
