Rogue landlord....please help

We live in a four bed detached house, costing £700 per month in rent. As that is a lot cheaper than the rental price the landlord could achieve (£1-1200) we try not to bother him much. However......
We have had numerous problems with the house. There was a leak in the toilet and although the landlord sent someone to fix that we then paid for a new floor to be fitted in the bathroom. The electric shower then stopped working. After getting onto the landlord multiple times a family member fitted a new shower that we paid for. However the family member is not a qualified electrician. We kept the landlord fully informed and he was happy with this. I then found an electrician willing to issue a safety certificate for the shower (at the moment we are scared to use it). The electrician however said that he couldn't complete the test as the fuse box has been built into a wall and needs to fully visible. He also said the shower portion of the fuse box is incorrectly and poorly fitted.
We've tried to look for someone to come and sort the fuse box out but to no avail.
How can we get the landlord to act? He did tell us to find someone to sort the fuse box and take it or if the rent money but should it be down to us to be chasing people to do the work, or is it his responsibility?

You can force him to act if the property is dangerous, but is it worth the risk to the £6k per year rent discount you are getting?
for £6k per year I would organise a fair few tradesmen!0 -
Even if your complaints are justified, your LL will surely tire of this and serve notice. After getting onto the landlord multiple times"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

was the family member who fitted the shower a member of your family or the landlord's?0

Hardly a rogue landlord if he's under charging you £500 month.
Does the shower work? If so, get over it, or move house.0 -
How long have you lived in the property? Christmas time is gonna be difficult to ge someone . As above, seems like you should get a few tradesmens contacts and enjoy the discount you appear to be getting.
If you are generally happy , a Christmas card to the landlord would be a nice touch too.0
