  • Nephew isn't going anymore either - he has paid me even though he isn't going. Flights are a pain re transferring .. ie you have to pay £50 per flight per name so £100 and then you have to pay the difference on what the flight would cost if you booked on the day of transfer .. thus effectively a saving of £70 as flight are a lot more expensive now rather than when I originally booked. its just wrong that she can ask me to book and pay for her and then refuse even to pay in small instalments or offer to pay half .. just something but to point blank refuse is just rude.
  • blimey sourcrates and karcher ... cool your heels ... I'm not sat on my computer all day waiting for replies ..I log on when I can ... its Christmas afterall and i'm very busy ..

THANKS to all who have replied .. and I appreciate the time and trouble you have taken. I will have to mull over the situation .. it just really annoyed me last night to get her reply of "I cant afford it and I'm not paying you" and no apology for leaving me with her mess to sort ... if things were that bad that she was about to break it off with my nephew she should have said "don't book my flight, i'll sort it later" not "oh yes please, will you book for me and book me a seat please, thanks" .. its just a bloody cheek. She came on holiday with us in September and seemed like such a lovely girl ... just goes to show you how wrong you can be. I might write her "a letter before action" and see if she responds .. if not then like you have mostly said I will have to chalk it down to experience and never do it again but its annoyed me .. its my birthday holiday and now i'm footing even more of a bill ... aghghghghg.

Merry Christmas forum readers and thanks again.

Your nephews done you no favours either if he's not going either, will you now be going solo?
Having to pay for accommodation, hire car yourself? He's stuffed you nearly as much as her !

In your position i would send a very short LBA and see what happens.
  • Well originally there were 11 of us .. all agreed on villa prices etc .. confirmed and reconfirmed before booking so we all knew prices etc ... then bam down to 10 .. then bam down to 9 ... the villa is getting pricer and is another non-refundable item! i'm never doing this again for sure .. 2 others in the party are teetering a bit as they haven't booked their flights yet and they are getting more expensive daily .. nightmare .. could be a villa with 8 bedrooms that has 7 people in it at this rate - and the split a lot more! Happy 50th to me eh! Merry Christmas everyone and I hope 2018 is a better one than 2017 .. this year has been a really poo one for my family (not cos of this though I hasten to add .. this is just another bauble on the tree!)

You think you're having a bad Christmas?
My wife is waiting for a desperately-needed hip replacement, can't walk far, is in pain 24/7.
Today I was at hospital, being painfully examined for a problem that turns out to be heavily swollen prostate with a nasty attachment. I am currently peeing razor blades.
There are people much worse off than yourself this Christmas, and I don't include my wife and myself:

That lady is just one person.
We will get by, whether we can have a holiday or not.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Be worth £25 to issue a claim if it was me. See how she likes that on her record.

I have issued four CC over the years against companies. All paid out before court action.

You have no idea what ahppened, you have his side of the story.
If she was a lovely girl in september, she's still a lovely girl now, circumstances have panned out so that she is no longer with your nephew, and yu only have his side of the story for what went on, so why on earth would she go on holiday with you or pay for a flight where she wasn't going to go.
Looks like the villa wasn't a good idea, and if you'r going to do this again, get the money first.
Find someone else to go with you.

They comment appropriately on the boards they are board guides for.
For the rest, they are human and get to voice an opinion. Just like you.
