Why no undo feature on browsers?

There I was typing a muck load of helpful advice in a new reply to a thread, and somehow by a press of the wrong button (don't know what button or combination of buttons) all my text gets deleted from the reply post window at a single stroke, and it is unrecoverable. I was still on the same page, just all the typed text disappeared.
If this was a word document you can press the undo button to get all your text back again.
But this is google chrome browser with no such helpful feature. !!!:o
EDIT: addition:
And now to make things worse... I was just trying to replicate the key strokes that deleted everything when I came across a pop up menu from my random keystrokes at the top of which was a undo feature  I then had to find how I got to that menu....it turned out to be right mouse button with the cursor in the reply window. No idea if I had known and tried this whether it would have saved me or not..but at least I know of it now. still don't know what keystrokes caused the deletion.

Because programming a browser to know how to inject data into any and every control on any and every page of any and every website on the internet would be an infinite task?0

The undo feature you've found isn't part of Google Chrome, its actually part of Windows. You can recreate it in Notepad by typing some text, deleting a character or two and then right-click.0

Most likely clicked redo

the can be an 'undo' actually a redo feature.
Also if you type a long detailed response, a time our seems to occur on some sites like this one.
What you are looking for is the Flashpeak Slimjet, or Chrome browser, with the lazerus plugin, and on the browser enable the add blocker too
There was the same app for firefox, but firefox have messed with the code base so much that many devs have given up and are not amending their code0 -
ctrl + z is always worth a quick go.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0

You likely pressed ctrl+a and then hit another key, replacing the whole lot with a space or wotnot.
Easily to undo, just press ctrl+z0
