Also, Hive, which seems to charge about £10-12 for books, which is better than many, but not as cheap as xigxag or Audible.

These subscription models rely on the fact that most of us ignore our local library. I understand many libraries have audible books that can be borrowed over the air. I have had personal experience of this in Florida (USA) Leicester (UK) and Luxembourg. They are FREE.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

It would be interesting to hear if others have similar or very different experiences.
I assume that the 51 books does not include Audible Originals?
Personally, I'm still working though the books at my library's digital service. They seem to keep adding good ones, so my list of books to be read keeps getting longer. I'm not sure I'll ever run out and end up having to pay for any.
lucky you as you appear to have a local library that believes in audiobooks and not just electronic readers. I have access to leicester library where they appear to add only one or two audiobooks a year.0 -

If you have an Audible subscription you can get free books. They are in the Audible Plus catalogue.

If you can tolerate an electronic voice which mispronounces words, quite hilariously, try Open Library. It has a lot of old books, and it is FREE, though I am sure they would appreciate a donation.
It has been a blessing when I have had an eye problem. I got through a book a day last year.
Librivox is free to, another source of old novels, some read very, very, badly. I do enjoy it. One pleasant reader seems to have a hamster wheel squeaking in the background. It is there in every book she reads. The dramatic readings are often very funny. I do like amateur theatricals.0 -
Does anyone use Kindle Unlimited? Is it worth paying for it?0

I dip in and out of Kindle unlimited, there is no need to permanently stay a member unless using it all the time. I read a few books then leave until favourite author writes another then rejoin. HTH0
