I think they get all your detail from the passport office anyway as they have a contract with HM passport office for processing all new passport?

    Citation?

CRA’s may be used by the Passport Office for identity verification but as far as I’m aware they don’t have anything to do with the actual processing.
  • I don't know if folks are still reading this, but I've not managed to get anywhere witth this since my original post.

And guess what? This evening I had my rather confused 90 year old Dad on the phone telling me had had a letter from some company or other (turns out to be Equifax) telling him there had been a data breach and his name, address and DOB had been taken. He's a bit worried, but not too concerned because he doesn't want to take out any more credit cards ........ Aaarrghhh!!!!!

So now the crooks know where to find one gullible 90 year old, thanks to Equifax. And they still insist they won't give me a copy of my credit report unless I send them a photocopy of my passport, even though Experian and Noddle know of a different way of checking ID.
