pSame thing happened to Hattie a couple of months ago...
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php? =608697&page=326
Hattie's account ended in a debit balance and she contacted Virgin to query this and was told to repay the incorrect interest. It was subsequently written off.
I've also been paid too much money today.
3290.31 was the total amount after the interest added. I closed the account on line and the amount transferred to my nominated account was 3327.40. Just 9p short of double the interest.
My account now shows a nil balance, but I expect will show a debit amount at some point. Not Rachmaninov

Same thing has happened to me, for the second time. Interest paid is £75.55. Moved out to my nominated account after I gave closure instruction. The account is showing a nil balance at the moment but will soon show a negative balance of £30-odd. It will lie there until I contact them, as I did last time. They told me last time to pay the balance off, but I protested as it was their error and nothing was done until I had to contact them. It seems that they haven't rectified the computer glitch that is causing this to happen.0

That's what I will be doing, but not advice!0

Didn't happen on mine
I assume the nominated accounts are external on the 'lucky' beneficiaries?0 -
My working hypothesis for the glitch:
- needs to be annual interest
- must close account after it's reverted to an easy access saver
- request must be carried out before 21st of the month or in the early hours of the morning on 21st
- funds need to be transferred to an external account
May be wrong though.
I look forward to February.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

I went into my local branch today to open the Regular Branch saver 8 and while I was there I mentioned the error with the closure of the above account which had subsequently shown a debit amount.
A quick phone call by the advisor to the online team and the outstanding balance was written off.
