Amazon Echo dot vs Google Home mini

Hi all,
One of the above has been suggested as a christmas present but can't decide which would work best for me and thought I'd ask on here after reading reviews etc. Online as still undecided.
It would need to go on my 5ghz wifi ideally and I have the following gadgets to potentially use with it:
Heatmiser PRT-TS wifi thermostat
Awair
Wemo insight switch
Chrome cast
LiFX bulb
Galaxy S5
I was starting to favour the Google as I have a chrome cast and android phone but it looks like more is compatible with the Alexa having been around longer?

I personally would go for the Google seeing as you already have a Chromecast. Amazon echos probably do link with slightly more gadgets at the moment but Google are catching up fast.
