New circuit Price

Options
I know this could be how long is a piece of string, but... does anyone know a rough price for fitting a new circuit to an CU? Currently the cooker is wired up to the same circuit as the sockets - but I want to replace the cooker - so was thinking about getting it stuck on its own circuit - but if this is pricey then I might just move to just gas instead of dual fuel - this will be a double oven range cooker - so not a 13amp plug on these.

  • How far is the cooker from the cu? Is there space on the cu? Is everything at the appropriate spec? Etc etc.

You need to get a spark round to look and quote. Any answers here are going to be total guess work.

I paid around £200 to have a new kitchen cooker circuit which was the other end of the house from the CU and had a new kitchen socket ring at the same time as they were lifting floors etc. This was combined with installation of a new CU, so he was already on site though

It isn't just the cost, you also got to think about the route a new cable would need to take - will it need floors lifting, walls chasing out to run the cable down, redecorating etc.

If you've already got gas, why bother getting electric when gas is much better to cook on and it's about a quarter of the price to run. Or get a range with gas hobs, gas main oven and a second fan oven than will run from your existing supply?
