Moving from DLA to PIP

Hi there,
My daughter has just turned 16 and we have previously claimed DLA for her due to learning difficulties and suspected, but undiagnosed Autism.
We got the letter to say that her DLA is coming to an end and we need to let them know if we intend to put in a claim for PIP by the 29th December.
I gather they will send the forms out, but does anyone have any experience of filling these forms in? Are they as difficult as the original DLA forms? I am unsure about filling them in, as I don't think she will be successful with the claim.
Thanks in advance.

You will need to ring DWP to start the PIP claim off, they don't just automatically send them out.Abbafan1972 wrote: »Hi there,

Are you your daughters appointee? If you're not then she will have to make the call, sign the forms and you won't be able to speak on her behalf during the face 2 face assessment. If you're not and she has difficulty managing her money and making decisions for herself because of the learning difficulties then becoming her appointee will most likely be a good thing.
PIP is different to DLA. PIP isn't about a diagnosis it's how those conditions affect you daily. The PIP self test is a good place to start and will at least give you some understanding what it's about. I'll pop a link up for you.
You'll also need evidence to support her claim, such as letters from GP, social workers, school, and support worker she has, diary written by someone that knows her well, list of all current prescriptions etc.
Your local disability advice centre will be the best place to ask for help with those forms because they're like a book, if i'm honest. Good luck. here's that link..

I have helped complete quite a lot of DLA and PIP forms. There are things about PIP I don’t like but I would say that I think the PIP form itself, is an improvement, easier to complete and more user friendly than the DLA one.
Could you get help from your local CAB/advice centre?0 -
Also forgot to add that if you do decide to apply for PIP, if those forms are returned by the date on the form. DLA will continue to be paid until a decision's been made on the PIP.0
