MS Works 7.0

An oldie but goldie for me anyway...
Had MS Works 7.0 running on my Windows 10 since day 1, but had got a bit unstable lately so decided yesterday to uninstall/reinstall as I still have the original disk.
When I try to reinstall its hanging about half way through and am getting a message saying IE and internet tools cant be installed and the installation is halted....Its only the spreadsheets I use and would prefer not to switch to Libre etc if I don't need to.
I presume an update since I previously installed Works is preventing installation this time around and was just wondering if there are any work rounds that will let Works install?

Libre should be able to open the Works files.
Failing that you could try installing in Admin mode - put the disk in, go to Computer, right-click your CD drive -> Open -> and see if there's a setup.exe file. If so, right-click and run as Administrator.0 -
when you try to install, is there a 'customize installation' option which might let you just install the bit(s) you need?0

Am opening my files ok through Libre but definitely prefer the Works 7 theres no customise option but I tried the basic installation and it still stalls with a "windows update setup" message saying IE explorer and Internet Tools cannot be installed on this computer....wish i'd left well alone but it has previously worked ok on this pc0

Clutching desperately at straws here....
Am growing to love Libre but am curious as to why Works wont install0 -
Check the SECOND answer down:

a much bigger hammer.

I was on there before seeking answers, but on mine the cd gets about halfway through then stops installation and says it cannot be loaded on a 64 bit machine, yet it worked well enough until 3 days ago.
Am presuming a recent windows update has removed some file or other that Works needed to run on W10.
Cannot find the download in the Windows store either.
Had a good read through that thread and would need to restore windows to a previous version and turn off automatic updates to get it to work...0
