Can I fill hole under tap with expanding foam?

Hi All!
Due to a faulty tap, my kitchen worktop has started to rot and the tap can no longer sit on the work top without falling down into it. I have had countless people in to look at it with a view of removing the counter completely and replacing it but am constantly let down. I am getting desperate now and was wondering if it is possible to use expanding foam under the tap to fill the hole and then use a filler to level it off as a temporary fix as it is just getting worse and it looks like finding someone to fit a new work top is going to take time.
Thanks for any advice!

You can but it won't be very stable for long unless it's very easily turned on tap [never thought I'd write that phrase]...
How about some kind of bracket?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
How handy are you? If you're capable of turning the water off and removing the tap, you could, as a temporary measure, screw a batten of wood across the hole, drill a hole in the wood to match the tap and fit the tap into the secured wood. It would look odd but it would be a make-do practical solution until such time your worktop is replaced and job done properly. I'm not a fan of spraying expanding foam around plumbing or electrics, you risk making a total mess and something that the professionals can't get at to correct when they need to.0

Thanks for your replies. The taps are just levers so no pressure is required when turning them on and it would just be a temporary measure - I wouldn't be able to live with that anymore than I can it being as it is!! I just didn't want it to look such a mess over Christmas with people coming in and out. The whole thing will eventually be replaced if I can ever find someone that will actually show up when they say!0
