Just been informed DWP have asked for nearly 2k off my friends civil compensation award ( employment tribunal)
Unfortunately haven’t got the exact figures as could only get hold of solicitors receptionist and she told me the figure she will be receiving would be nearly 2k less than the 9k she was awarded as per the DWP request for recovery.
My friend has been on CB JSA for 6 months with the disability premiums on top for 6 months and currently on income JSA for the last 2 months.
So what I am asking is what do DWP take off as way of recovery?
Is it the disability premiums or the income JSA?
Can’t figure it out at all as obviously she has received more than 2k in benefits since she has been out of work.
Maybe Epitome will be able to answer the following, what section in the DWP deal with these recoveries ? and what is the best way to get hold of them for a breakdown of what’s gone on? Be it by phone or letter.
Many thanks.

She was getting JSA conts with a top up of JSA IB (the premiums are only on IB)

She must also be on PIP, perhaps the recovery is of the PIP payment?

You said premiums plural... £32.55 DP, and 15.90 EDP? £62.85 SDP?

JSA is £73.10 plus any above premiums...

    2000/34 weeks = 58
    2000/33 weeks = 60

It would seem to most likely be a recovery of PIP if PIP has been paid at £55 a week PIP care standard rate, no PIP mobility paid.

    This might be useful,

phone the phone numbers there and see if you can get an answer...and a Written Statement Of Reasons

    Thanks Epitome.
She is on High care DLA and low mobility, she was getting £243 a fortnight on JSA!
Still can’t get the figures to add up tho!
Is it a normal thing that they deduct DLA from a civil compensation award then?

    73.10 + 32.55 + 15.90 then

    Does she live alone?
Anyone paid carer's allowance to care for her?

    When was DLA awarded from?
    DLA would be £100 a week. 20 weeks of DLA = 2000
