Parcel gone missing via royal mail, denying it.

I ordered a Christmas gift online for a family member, It was supposed to arrive last thursday, I was off work thursday and friday which was ideal as it meant I could wait in for the parcel. Nothing arrived, no knock at the door, no card left through the letterbox to tell me I missed a delivery, but I did get an email at 6.30pm telling me my parcel had been delivered, apparently it was delivered at 6pm that day.

I logged into the website I bought the gift from, they provide a tracking number and also notes to tell you where the parcel is at certain points, from ordering to delivery, the last note on the order was "Delivered to Royal Mail Delivery Centre Birmingham" then under where it says notes it had this: "Signed for by Saheed" I live in Northern Ireland..

The website told me to check with my local post office/sorting office to see if they have my parcel, I did, they do not have it, they also said if a delivery had been attempted at my address I would have a card telling me where my parcel is, they confirmed it had been signed for by Saheed in Birmingham.

I contacted Birmingham post office via phone who tried to tell me it has been delivered to my house and they have no idea why tracking ended there with them. They said the notes prove it arrived there but does not prove that it never left them.

Just as a note.. I have checked with my neighbours to see if anything had been left with them, I have checked in all the usual places the post is usually left if I am not in (they usually leave parcels in my shed in the back garden, or in the recycling bin) checked three local post offices and also the main sorting office who are all saying the same thing... I would have a card saying it would be re delivered or telling me where I could pick it up. I have also checked with local delivery companies such as dhl.

Not really sure where to go from here as this has never happened to me before, the website tells me to take it up with royal mail, royal mail are telling me its nothing to do with them as it was delivered and I have nothing to go on whatsoever regarding where the parcel is apart from the notes telling me where it ended up.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks.

I would contact the company you purchased from - it is their problem. Perhaps they have given you the wrong tracking number?
  • Go to the Royal Mail website and then customer service. Do a ‘denial of receipt’ report. They’ll speak to the post person to find out where they left the item I.e number 53.

That’s what I did and got it sorted.
