NowTV reusing bank details - anyone else? - inside fraud?

I cancelled my NowTV subscription 2 months ago but noticed a charge again last week.

NowTV replied to my query on this charge to say that I had 2 separate accounts with different email addresses using the same card details and would I please confirm that the other email address (which they gave in their response) was also mine.

It definitely wasn't anything to do with me (I then had to tell them this no less than 10 separate times) and it turns out they had been double billing my card for over six months.

The strange thing is, the email address they gave me isn't valid, and it looks like it never has been. I googled this and quickly found quite a few others with the same problem of NowTV using their card details for other parallel rogue accounts. If it has happened to you can you note below? And if you use NowTV, worth checking your account for double billings.

Since there's no other evidence of fraud on the card it would seem to be an inside leak of details at NowTV, either to resell the accounts or increase profits.

I've had my bank block the continuous payment authority and after 15 increasingly stroppy emails to NowTV customer support they have finally said that they will shut down the rogue account, though will not give any refund. (it would also be easy for them to provide other details associated with this account - address given, IP etc but they won't)

    It won't be that.
  • Because? You seem very confident.
  • Because committing deliberate fraud which would be so easy to uncover would require CEO lunacy of a level you couldn't imagine.

When you have the choice of suspecting corporate fraud and a death wish, or common old incompetence and system errors, always go for incompetence.

Yes but fraud or scam sounds better in thread title for so many .
