parking fines

hello
can anyone please help. We have been issued a parking fine on an SIP car park even though we had paid. I appealed against the fine but was informed that there is a tariff for cars and a separate tariff for vans. The appeal was rejected. I can not now appeal as case closed. Our driver informed us that there was no signage up to state the separate tariff. I cannot contact the company by phone, only in writing, this could take longer than 28 days and the fine would increase to £100. I have emailed SIP but they do not discuss appeals via email. HELP

Go and get some photographs of the car park and the signage in it. If it is relatively sparse, take a copy of each sign and mark out where each is situated on a Google Maps overview of the car park. Best you print that first and take it with you so you can mark as you take each photo. If you have a date and time-stamp function on your camera/smartphone, have it switched on.

Could all be very handy if this goes to court. PPCs can and do add signage to a car park, so if you’re saying there’s no signs about a separate van tariff right now, then the sooner you get your evidence, the better.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Can I just check if it's still correct that a pcn is issued within 14 days as my mother in law has received one from the wonderful CEL. Issue date of 21/02/2018. Incident date of 19/12/2017
Incidentally, she was definitely 100% not in the KFC at that time or for that length of time. Thanks in advance and apologies for hijacking but can't find new thread link on my phone.

Doggychops, if you want to ask a question then please start your own thread.

Trying to respond to two people about two different incidents can only lead to confusion.

And since your question bears no relationship to the OP's situation, it is doubly inappropriate that you post here.

Look in the NEWBIES FAQ thread where you will find the answer to your question.

doggychops, as above, but wait until you get to a proper computer. You will never be able to navigate around this site on a 'phone, and will miss vital information otherwise.

  • apologies folks...I was visiting my mother in law at the time and only wanted to placate her a little while I was there. (Only had my phone at the time)

I'll try and find suggested links now I'm home.

Apologies again, no micky take intended.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.

Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
