Amazon £1 transaction after replacement item sent - is this normal?

An ordered placed on Amazon didn't arrive so after contacting them they sent out a replacement for free.

I've checked my online banking and there is a £1 transaction from them. Is this normal?

As in they've given you £1, or the other way round?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Amazon seem to do this a lot, they request a £1 authorisation but never take the money. I've been using the same payment method with them for ages and still occasionally see one of these show up.
  • Yes, I have seen this occasionally too. The money is never eventually taken.

    The other way round.
  • Check your Amazon account - it could be that they're expecting you to return the "missing" item and if you don't, you'll be charged for the replacement.

They can easily clear this off if this is the case and you haven't indeed received the original item
