they are concerned that the spare could get picked up by one of the nearby wheel receivers and give false readings.
IIRC my sensors have a battery saving motion-sensor which means they do not transmit when the vehicle is stationary or when sitting in the boot as a spare.
The system does not give the pressure reading when you first set off - it takes a couple of hundred metres or so for the car to receive the signals after the sensor transmitter 'wakes up'.
I run a 2nd set of wheels with Winter tyres and the motion-sensors save the batteries on the wheels not in use.
I just bought an extra set of sensors and no coding was needed to activate them, or when i change the wheels over each October and Easter.0
