my daughter had an inspection appointment for the flat she [STRIKE]lets[/STRIKE]rents, she did say she would attend, at the last minute she couldn't for wjhatever reason.

She did have an email from the agent a week or so ago saying they would look around themselves with their master key, that's all fine.
"You do not have to be at the appointment as we can use management keys.
Please can you confirm that this date is ok for you and whether you will be at the appointment."
would mean if she wasn't there he could just let himself in
The way I read this is that the agent set up an appointment and very considerately gave her 2 options
    1) let them know she would attend or
    2) agree to let them use their master key to access the property in her absence

She responded selecting option 1 above.

When she then failed to attend, had they then used their master key, you/she would be posting here complaining (as others have done) about invasion of privacy, and failure to respect her decision that she did not want them to access the property with their master key.

I'm no great fan of letting agents, but in this case suspect they could not win whatever they did. They spent time (which does = money in a business) setting the appointment up, and then coming out, and she wasted their time.

Another way to look at this would be to ask how she would have reacted if she had taken time off work to be there, and they had failed to attend......
