    Is it definitely a charge for that amount? Not a hold for the quoted amount + contingency that will be revised down to the correct amount when it's processed.

  • Yep definitely been overcharged by an hour - They sent through the invoice and have added on an extra 35 minutes which counts as two half hour slots for £70 + VAT each - so a total of £168. They marked the start time 25 mins earlier than when he arrived and added 10 minutes from when he left - I also remember him going back and forth to his vehicle and taking 5-10 mins each time.

    I've queried it with them but they aren't responding to emails and don't want to know over the phone.

    Next step would be informing Barclaycard through payment protection I guess?
  • Payment protection is PPI. It makes payment in the event you lose your job, etc. That won't help.

    You need to ask for a chargeback.

    Didn't you ask him to confirm the price before he left? Given that what you described was apparently a leak from the waste, it was not an emergency, so there was really no need to call an emergency plumber and pay their rates.
    Given reasonable under-bath access, an independent would charge maybe £60-75 for that repair in normal hours.
    Aspect appear to be a property maintenance franchise operation, so I'm guessing that they are just subbing out the work to the cheapest contractors they can find.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
