Lloyds TSB classic plus 6.4% current account

Hi guys I knew that this offer was only until 09/10/07. I have a classic current account with them and requested to be upgraded to classic plus account on their website paying 6.4%. My understanding was it was also available to existing customers or have I got it wrong completely? I've received a letter today that my interest will be 4.25% AER. Was it only available to new customers?
I would appreciate any replies.

Yes, I was tempted by that one, being a long standing Lloyds customer, but when I looked at the small print, it wasn't for existing customers.0

The 6.4% rate is for new customrs only.
The rest get 4.25%.0
