Excuse my ignorance, so please bear with me. I use a popular spread betting app on my iPad, and often sit for couple of hours monitoring it, as it refreshes very few seconds (using wifi).
I'm looking to buy a large tablet with 4G/cellular and trying to work out, roughly, my usage to find the best SIM only data deal
Or am i asking a totally unanswerable question?

The only way to really be sure is measure your traffic over a period while counting the number of refreshes and not using the internet for anything else. That should give you a reasonable average, which you can then use to estimate your usage over the SIM card renewal period.0

Thanks for that, whats the easiest way to measure my usage please on my tablet? I could leave it running for 1 hour and see how much is used
Thanks again0 -
Each refresh will be at most a few 100 Bytes with just the price data. All the graphics will be done by the iPad.
If you assume 256Bytes every 5 seconds, that's only 0.2MB per hour0 -

Thanks Debbie, so approx:
1MB = 5 hours
1 Gb = 5,210 hours or 217 days (I think)0 -
Some browser like chrome and opera mini compress the data , using cached data and only downloading the new bitsEx forum ambassador

The usage will be negligible .
More data will be used by the stuff going on in the background, ie various apps calling home, checking for updates , emails etc.
Even flappy birds uses data !! And even when you are not using it !
Do you have a smartphone at the moment ? If so, install the app on that and you can look in settings => data usage how much data each app is using0 -
Is there not an app to tell you how much data the apps are using.
i have one for my windows phone and it is close enough to the real use as measured by the network.0
