Smart meters - current prepayment ones next to each other
I wish to change both gas and electric meters to a smart meter, however at present they are next to each other. Would it be a simple case of replacing current ones or they would have to be relocated?
If relocated im not sure
where it can go given the size of the house (small).

You need to ask the supplier as not all smart meters are the same. Any meter re-location costs will fall to you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
How far apart ?
My electric is in an outside meter box with the gas in the garage about a metre away.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Should be no problem.
Ring your supplier up and ask to be put on the list.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Smart gas and electric meters are roughly the same size as the Landis Gyr/Actaris/itron electric meters and Siemens e6 gas meters but meter fitters will most probably just take one look at the gas/electric meters and if they are too close for the current regs they will just march out again and not fit any new meters, smart or dumb, citing precious health n safety guff about gas meters sitting too close to an electric meter where a spark could cause an explosion lol.
Even tho they have sat there happily together for the last 40 years it does nt matter because Health n safety rules come first in the UK as usual
This is despite the occupier losing a days pay waiting for the meter fitter chappie to turn up0
