Just because you can retract the piston doesn't mean it isn't seizing. It could be that when it is at that point in its travel that it is incapable of returning on its own freely. The only way to see is to have someone sitting in the car and applying and releasing the brakes several times whilst you watch what the pads are doing.
On my MX5 I could retract the piston as easily as I'd expect to be able to do but it wouldn't fully release pressure on the pads. This is a very good point hadn’t thought of that. I should have checked without pushing it back with the clamp. I’m going to get one from ECP (pagid) and see what happens once I have changed it.0
