No I do agree he should have made an effort to get the points at time of purchase, however he had tried to make an account for the card but the captcha thing wasn’t working so he gave up. Again I was just not understanding why they don’t allow you to cancel an order when it’s written in the law is all, I just wondered if there was something I wasn’t aware of :)
I think you are perhaps misunderstanding what the Boots CS advisor is telling you. Whilst it is true you can cancel the online sale as is your statutory right what they're saying is that the current status of the order has gone so far that they can't physically cancel now it until it's been delivered, possibly because it's coming straight from the manufacturer. Also bear in mind that even if you could cancel straight away you may not get a refund until 14 days so you may not be any better off.

Although there's nothing stopping the OP placing a second order now to take advantage of the points offer. Pay with a credit card and the money for the first order will have been refunded long before the second payment is actually debited.

Take it back, get a refund and buy a cheaper one, you'll save lots more than £60. It's a hairdryer FGS.
