The 'office' Christmas Party....

Had details of our options for the xmas do last week, one option is £50 all food all drinks inc (I dont really drink alcohol...) and the 2nd option is £30 no drinks. I know we'll end up going for the first option as its better value for the drinkers amongst us. But if I take my OH thats £100 plus taxi's (another £50) for one night out (plus outfit lol jk!).
I'm majorly put off after I was food poisoned at a staff party a few years ago...so now I never trust the profiteroles!!
How much are your staff parties going to set you back this year and more importantly are you going or boycotting in true MSE style?

I am not attending at all, due to the large size of the organisation, there will be quite a few people I do not know and I just do not want to spend the money on something that does not look that interesting ( seen the options, none of them seem very enticing).
Therefore, I rather save the money and go out with DH just the two of us ( meal and movie preferably).SSB

Ours is subsidised so it only costs £5 towards the meal and there are bottles of wine on the tables. If it was £50 though there would be no way I would be paying it. The most ive paid for an xmas do is £25, but partners werent invited so it was just me I was paying for so it wasnt too bad. New outfit prob each time but wasnt fussed about the cost for that cause it normally gets worn again anyways.

I am working away for a weekend in December with a group of people - our 'do' will take place then. Will only cost about £10 for drinks, but I get paid over £100 for going on the weekend.:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I never go to ours...
It all started many years ago when I was a pennyless single parent.
The cost of the 'do' was the price of a weeks grocery shopping to me - so it was works do, or eat for a week - no contest really!! (especially as I didn't like half the people i worked with anyway!!
I just don't bother now - I'm known to be anti-social, and proud of it!!:T0 -
I am also a single parent, and always feel that the cost of an office christmas do, would be another present I could get for my daughter, so I never go.
I feel it is a lot of money to spend on an evening with people you wouldn't necessarily choose to socialise with!
I too have the reputation of being anti-social but I don't mind. I would prefer to see my daughter's face light up with an extra present!OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

We don't have any office party but we all go out for lunch on a Saturday in December. It's unofficial so we pay for our own meal. Money is collected from August onwards so we feel that we're getting a freebie by the time it comes along.0
