Currys Sony TV

I brought a Sony tv at the end of September and last Sunday the picture failed. We took the tv back to Currys who said that they would only send for repair and not replace or refund as we were out of their 28 day policy. I was extremely surprised that as we have only had the tv for less than 3 months we would have been entitled to a full refund or exchange. Is there anything we can do as we feel completely let down by Sony and Currys and would like neither in our life any more.

Where to you get that 'entitlement' from?
During the first six months following the sale, any problem can be assumed to have been present at the time of the sale.
You can express your choice of remedy but you cannot insist on a remedy that is disproportionate.
That effectively means that the seller chooses the most cost effective remedy.
They have chosen a repair. There is nothing wrong with that decision, other than you would've preferred a different choice.
I don't think anything depends on a three month timescale.0 -

So if they give you a replacement tv,even an upgraded one than the one you have now you would turn it down!:eek:0 -
You're getting what you bought but they're making it work again. Seems perfectly reasonable, why do you believe it's not?0

If you spent over £1400 on TV I would expect it to last.0

Cant see how Sony get the blame, you bought from Currys not Sony.
Im aware people like Currys will buy out the Warranty from Sony to get a slightly better deal, and then try to sell you extended warranty.
Sometimes Sony do a special free warranty for 5 years did u register tv with them?
Always buy your tv from Richersounds and get a free 6 years warranty and first class service.0 -

All well and good but OP doesn’t want a warranty or first class service, they want an exchange or refund. It doesn’t matter how long the warranty (free or paid for) is and how first class the company is, they would still want to attempt a repair in the TV before considering an exchange or refund.0 -
