Credit Repair

Hi, I have a terrible credit record from when I was at university and I really want to try and repair as much as possible because I don't want to let my partner down in a couple of years time when we go for a mortgage together. Can anyone advise me as I would be very much grateful. Thank You.

what do your credit records say?
  • I don't want to sound patronising, The only way is to operate your accounts in good order from now on. Any entries made on the credit file that are adverse, will be removed 6 years after they have been put on. If there are errors, make sure you contact your creditors and have them corrected. Also, do not use any fee charging service that offers to improve your credit rating. Others will tell you, this is virtually impossible. The cleaner you keep your record from now on, the more distant and adverse comments are place so it may show a bad history, but will also denote improvements in the handling of your accounts. Good luck.
