Lump sum and what to do ?

Hi all

I recently received a lump sum and I now need to know where to put it to get maximum interest. I will have approx £25,000 and will be having another £400 per month for 5 years from my Fiancee as I've paid off some debts. I have opened a Lloyds savings account that her money will be going into. I will be re-opening that account for 5years and will get 3% on that money per year. So I will have approx £25,000 that I need to invest.

Many thanks in advance :)

What will the money be used for - can you tie some of it up many years? If so how long and would you consider the ups and downs of a broad diversified pooled stock market investment or would the risk of loss be too stressful? If you need quick access would you be willing to do the legwork managing lots of small cash savings accounts to get the best return? Also it would be helpful to know your ages as some products are limited by age.
