Replacement gas fire - costs

Options
We need a replacement gas fire in our living room - We have received a quote of £1149 from a local company - who came out and did a "free survey" for us a couple of months ago.
This is broken down as £249 fitting + £900 for the fire !!
This is a silly price
The fire was our choice - we saw the one we wanted in their showroom - it is a Valor Dream HE with slide control - this is available from plumbnation at only £509 - but will a decent gas engineer be able to fit the fire as it is - if we buy on-line - ot are any other bits needed - such as a backing plate ?
What should we be looking at for a fitting price ?

    Any advice - please...
I am ready to order from gr8fires.co.uk - but need to know whether I need to buy any other "bits" at the same time ....
Then, I will have to find an installer
