Cheap, easily accessible from all supermarkets .... can be supersoft if barely toasted (or microwaved) ... or crispier if you toast them longer.
How are you getting on, Jojo?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

If you like porridge, try making it with apple juice or a mix of juice and water. It does taste different to making it with milk, but quite pleasant.
Eggs in whatever form you like them - scrambled, poaches or omelette - maybe make the omelette /eggs completely plain to start with.
If you like soup, try chinese chicken soup or home made soups thickened with potato.
risotto - maybe dilute the stock with extra water so any flavour is blander.
purees - think baby food - gives you textures you can swallow easily - add soft boiled potato or rice to 'cut' strong flavours. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Maybe look at dairy-free protein shakes or meal replacement powders for the moment, if you're struggling with meals. Makes it easy and protein will help with hunger too - you might miss the 'solid' part of a meal but protein tends to fill you up for longer than carbs.
These I lived on for four months and were on prescription from the Drs.
For five months afterwards I lived on beige food and it was horrible but the end result 10 years later after strong chemo r/therapy and five operations is I am still alive and kicking thank goodness.
I longed for curries and spicy stuff but it just made you feel so awful it just wasn't worth it.
Today most of my food is full of flavour and I use herbs and spices quite a bit, probably more than I should but now I can and enjoy it.
But omelettes, porridge poached fish, basically the sort of light diet that you would feed a baby on,but the end result being cancer free was well worth it,although at the time I didn't think so.
I think I have drunk my body weight in barley water and lucozade.Didn't drink another milkshake for several years though as they reminded me of the protein drinks too much ,although the strawberry ones were not too bad the vanilla tasted like sludge
Bear up honey, this time next year you can have a curry, every day is a day nearer getting better.
it left me with a very low immune system thats why if I get a cold it knocks me for six as this one I have at the moment has, but I can survive a bad cold I can't survive the big C( but with the medication I have :j:j:j)
Best wishes to you, I know how you feel especially at Christmas as everyone else is tucking in, and you are on beige food but it really is worth the effort .
Think of it as if you had paid a fortune to a 'posh' health resort to lose weight and look forward to next year when you can eat what you fancy again.Even now if I have scrambled eggs I sprinle the top with black pepper or branston pickle, just 'cos I can :j:j:j
