MSE News: Scottish income tax shake-up - how what you pay will change
From the Daily Mail a few days ago, A Scottish Government spokesman said "It is not the intention of this government that married Scots should lose their eligibility for Marriage allowance ... we are already working with HMRC to ensure this doesn't happen" and also, A treasury spokesman said "we will carefully consider any implications of recent changes for the marriage allowance and set out next steps in due course." It strikes me that the Finance Secretary did not even know about this until other people/papers picked up on it. Total incompetence!
Although the other point to remember is that in it's white Paper before the referendum in 2014, the SNP stated that "the marriage allowance would be scrapped after a yes vote because it discriminates against unmarried couples" Maybe this is the their sly way way of trying to scrap it! Wouldn't trust them to go to the shops for me let alone run the country.
