onine car insurance

Options
I have found a good quote online through one of the big insurance websites. I'd like to go ahead with it but need to make 2 small changes. One is the mileage that I think I will do. Do I get a chance to amend this when I press the button 'buy insurance' or do I need to go back to the quote and get an amended one?

Go back and amend the quote.

Is this one of the insurance comparison sites or the insurer's own?

In that case you should be taken to the insurer's site where you'll get an opportunity to confirm and update the details you've entered.

Just be careful that you are answering truthfully as they do check, particularly if the amendments make it cheaper.

My daughter got a quote on a comparison site but moved to a new address a short distance away before amending the quote and taking out the insurance.

The insurance company contacted her a couple of weeks later to ask why the address was different to the initial quote and she had to provide council tax bills as proof.

When you want to play with quotes online then always do dummy quotes

When compiling a quote you agree you have told the truth and the insurers have software that spots changes being made, triggering their anti fraud processes which can lead to problems (especially when changes are seen to be attempts to reduce premiums by falsifying info)

as I found out (actually told by insurance co) NEVER ask for an immediate start quote if you can , a start date 3-4 days later can see a 10% drop in price

Use fake details which are similar to the correct ones but which don’t track back to you easily, eg a date of birth with slightly different day, month and year, nearby address, fake email (?????@aol.com tends to work as valid) and put car details in manually rather than use the auto fill from the reg no.
