Can I add Bluetooth to my car?

I currently use a jack to connect my phone to the stereo. It goes without saying that it would be so much easier if I had access to Bluetooth. The car doesn't come with Bluetooth but is there a decent solution out there I can use?

This kind of thing plugs directly into your AUX socket.

Thanks, have any of you used (or currently use) the suggested solutions? Just wanna get a feel for how good they are.0

Yes i have used the parrot it is very good but not the cheapest option0

I've used a bluetooth->AUX one and it was fine.
I would have doubts on the quality of a cheap FM transmitter but I've do not have experience of that type.
Having said that, I have since switched to a new aftermarket radio with bluetooth built-in.0 -
I've found the battery on the bluetooth adapter that plugs into the aux socket 'only' lasts a couple of hours, and there's interference of you try to charge whilst using it, but works ok when charged.0

I've used one of the FM transmitter types, that plugs into the 12v power socket.
It was fairly good. The one I used had good construction.
Only problem is, on longer journeys you are likely to find local radio stations drifting in and out of the frequency you are using.
But it was quite good for answering the phone, as there was buttons for accepting and terminating a call. No good for making a call though.0 -
I use one of these, works well and allows hand free phone use.

It all depends how much you want to spend.
Parrot kit is good, there's the small add-on job or you could replace your existing car radio with one that has Bluetooth. I went for this option a long time ago on my old Merc. At that time not many radios had it but Parrot did one and it was excellent.
Another option is a SatNav, many have built in BT and hands free.
Before I retired this was my preferred method for hands free in hire cars, later on nearly all the hire cars came with built in BT.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
