Airline Problems

I recently booked a flight to Las Vagas for January 08 but by mistake booked it in my shorten name rather than my full name as appears on my passport.
I did not realise till a few weeks later and have been told by the airline & booking agent that I cannot change it to my full name, I could canel my flight, lose all my money and buy the flight again!
The airline said that tickets would have been printed (even though i don't go till jan and its ticketless) but they would put a note on the check in and hopefully I might get on!
Any suggestions on how I can make them change the name (which would mean adding 3 letters) for a small admin fee rather than the cost of the flight?

Sorry to offer bad news, but all you can do is cancel the ticket and rebook. If the name on the ticket is different to the one in the passport, even a 1 character typo, then they're not allowed to let you fly. We've had this happen to us a couple times, once it was the agent's fault so they were able to sort it out for us, but once when my Dad booked online. Ended up about £200 out of pocket just because he'd shortened my name.0

Even with e-tickets, ticketing still takes place, this is when your e-ticket is given an e-ticket number. If you pay in full at time of booking ticketing can take place there and then.
With situations like this, some airlines can be sympathetic within the first 24 hours of booking, but since it was a few weeks ago that is no help to you.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I would phone them again and hope that you get a more sympathetic agent, i booked flights in the wrong christian name, didnt notice until about a month before departure gave them a call and they changed it free of charge ( did have a sleepless night before i could call them though)0

First name dose not need to be a full name if it is your second name you will have a problem.0

i changed a name completely once in a travel agents and they only charged me 15 quid0

i would speak to the airline direct. sometimes if the name is obvioulsy been shortened and isnt completely different they may let you travel on it but you may have problems at us immigration'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

At my company my name in the directory is Ben, everyone calls me this, my email is this and yet my full name is Benjamin. Had several flights booked by the company under Ben and never had any sort of problem with this...School is important, but Rugby is importanter.0
