car hire refund

I recently hired a car via the internet, and only once the confirmation page appeared did I find I had hired from Hertz. (All through it had been under Airline Network's name) Due to a bad experience with Hertz previously I immediately cancelled, by phoning the number on the confirmation page, and then the number they gave me. I was told the cancellation had been made and there would be no charge. A couple of days later I had an e-mail saying I would be charged £25 for cancelling - not from Hertz, who still tell me they do not charge, but from "goldmedal" who, it seems, are the finance people for Airline Network.

Despite many e-mails back and forth they have insisted that they will charge me, cnd have now refunded the cost minus this £25. The terms and conditions do state that a charge will be made, but I feel I have been misled from the start and as I was clearly told twice by phone that I would NOT be charged I wonder if there is anything I can do?

They will probably refer to the terms and conditions and retain the 25 pounds, unless you can persuade them on the phone to do otherwise.

The fact you were told on the phone that you would not be charged, would give me reason to try once more to get it back, BUT

How were you misled..Airline network are a broker so I dont think you would know who the car was coming from until you paid.
