First Time Buyer - Gas and Electric Checks

Hi All,
We had an offer on a property accepted, we have had the mortgage offer through and they have completed their survey.
The survey highlighted that the Gas boiler looked dated and currently the Bathroom had some suspect wiring. They are currently doing up the bathroom and is one of the conditions that this done before sale.
In the survey we were advised to get the Gas and Electrics checked out and to get a certificate for them.
I phoned the EA who said that they didn't have certificates for these but WE would have to send someone round to check on them at our own expense.
Any idea on how much this is likely to cost? The house was built in mid 1950's and is a 3 bed mid terraced.
Cheers
Andrew

We just bought a 1930's semi and had a gas engineer around to check the gas as a matter of course. For two gas fires, boiler and cooker he charged 60 quid.It took about 60-90 minutes and he even looked in the loft (and, due to it raining at the time, found a leaky roof tile:eek: )All were ok but he recommended that the fires be serviced at some point as they were old and abit mucky. In an Acapulco hotel:
The manager has personally passed all the water served here.:rotfl:0
