Suspended. Should resign or sit it on until hearing

I’m 23 years old and working as a receptionist at a retail warehouse. Been working for over a year. I recently did overtime, working as a security guard. A man has parked his car in the warehouse customer car park and he is not a customer but someone who works next door I’m garage. I felt very angry and scraped his car with my keys. It showed on cctv that it was me. I told my managers what happened and he has suspended me for further investigation. Manager said that I will a receive a letter stating when my next disciplinary hearing would be next sat (23/12/17) and another manager from a different branch will be meeting with me. I felt angry at myself and ashamed of my actions. I deserved to be punished yet I am scared that I will be fired and won’t be employable in the future. Please help me on deciding whether I should wait it out until the disciplinary hearing and see what they say or resign immediately. Thank you

Are you intending to offer to pay for the damage?

Have you at least offered to pay for the damage?

To be honest I'd have sacked you on the spot.
  • I offered them to take payment of my pay.
  • I do have SIA
  • Yes I will need reference
  • Yes I have offered to pay for the damages out of my pay. However manager has said that he is not allowed to do that and the company will have to pay.

It's not acceptable is it. If it was my car I would be pursuing you personally in court, even if it meant you just getting a CCJ.

You realise that if this is reported to the police you could lose for SIA licence?

There's no benefit to resigning at this stage, if they're going to sack you then that's that. May as well keep the pay

    - TBH its so stupid I'm struggling to believe it.

I don't think you're going to get one, like Comms69 I'd have sacked you immediately, and I'm sure that you will quite rightly be dismissed.

Im under the impression leaving voluntarily (quitting) would be looked on less favourably at the benefits office than if fired. As such i would be sticking around until i was fired.

Id defintely be actively looking for another job expecting to be fired.
