Should I get insurance?

Think it honestly depends on the breed and whether you have a contingency credit card.

I have a Yorkie who is now 9 months old. No major problems so far, but the breed is prone to dental issues. Currently pay £26/month for him, covers me for 10k/year, includes ongoing conditions and one of the only plans that do cover dental issues. It’s a lot to pay per month, but already he has baby teeth that aren’t falling out and will need to be removed so I’ve earned 2 years of cover right there. My heart would break if I couldn’t afford treatment to help him or lessen his pain at any point of his life.

I’m an insurance advocate, but if you have more than enough to cover medical bills then of course it’s unnecessary.
