I hired a carpenter from the My Builder website 3 weeks ago to fit some internal doors. I provided the doors and furniture except for the cloakroom lock which I explained before the job was started as I wasn't sure which one to buy. On the day he needed additional hinges and he would get them plus a lock for toilet, added cost £20. The lock didn't fit the door and he took it away and said if I got a suitable lock he would come back and fit it. I let him know 4 days later I had the lock and arranged for him to fit it. He cancelled and has since cancelled 2 other days arranged plus another that he forgot to turn up! I emailed My Builder, they said they'd send an email to him to contact me, which he hasn't. I've emailed My Builder asking what happens now but had no reply. I paid £200 for the 5 doors, stupidly I didn't hold back the money for the last door until the job was done. So I have a toilet which can't be locked and which, with lots of family and friends coming for Christmas, is going to be a nightmare. Does anyone have any advice or am I just going to have to suck it up and put it down to bad experience, which doesn't seem right?

I assume we are talking a simple slide bolt lock? Either break out a screwdriver and fit it yourself if you want it fitted by Christmas or teach your guests to whistle. The chances of him having time to pop back and fit it before Christmas is slim.
