Seal worktop sink cutout

Hi all,

Looking to seal the rough cut, open chipboard of laminate worktop.
I know that regular PVA glue isn’t waterproof but you can get a waterproof PVA.

Many suggestions like SBR and varnish but looking for quick setting stuff.

Noticed Everbuild D4 Wood Glue as in this link
https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/adhesives/wood_glue/everbuild_d4_waterproof_wood_adhesive_1_litre_d41_P23443.html

They also do an interior/exterior adhesive but wood the D4 be better?

Also, Is it best practice to seal the back edge of worktop that goes against the wall?

Many thanks

'Butter' silicone around the cut edges, and yes, if you can seal along back edge.

I've never heard of 'would glue'. The name doesn't inspire confidence, but I suppose it's better than 'shood glue'.

“They also do an interior/exterior adhesive but wood the D4 be better?”

Meant would in that context...I’ll get my coat.

So silicon instead of waterproof PVA then?

yes, because 'waterproof' pva isn't waterproof
I always use silicone to seal any cut edges on an install.

Use silicon, everyone else does, usually clear but I have used white at a push for sinks and hobs.

    Cheers :)

It was just when I was told waterproof PVA by a plumber so saw the Everbuild 502.
They say "D4 water resistance, suitable for constant water immersion."
Toolstation description "Solvent free industrial grade, high strength wood adhesive. Totally waterproof, impact and temperature resistant, and sets in just 10 minutes. Dries clear. Meets the requirements of EN204 and WATT 91."
